FOCUS ON: FAUSTO PUGLISI

If as a child you spend your mornings at school listening to the tales of Greek Mythology as told by a woman professor with a sadomasochistic Versace look, and the afternoon staring at the bleached blonde stars of “Dallas”, it is probable that in your imagination women are hyper-feminine, sensual, opulent, wearing structured dresses perfectly cut, while the cultured literature of the classical world will find a place next to that one of pop literature of TV. If you spend the first 20 years of your life in Sicily, a land of a profound identity and of a troubled history, and then you decide to move to the United States, the heart of the western civilization, your way of seeing things will be able to tell a point of view precise and at the same time international, diverse, multicultural.

Fausto Puglisi’s fashion is able to tell all of this world, and this is the reason why even before conquering the buyers he conquered the stars, the first one was Whitney Houston who wore one of his creations at the Grammy Awards ceremony of 2000.

Last February, Fausto Puglisi autumn/winter 2013-2014 collection made its official entrance in the calendar of Milano Moda Donna with the presentation that took place at Palazzo Serbelloni, under a violent purple light and with a fancy flights soundtrack, that went from the “Gang bang” of Madonna to the Ennio Morriconi soundtrack of the movie “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”. And if a ram's head, used as the logo of the brand, brings to mind the tragic heroine Medea, the bomber, the short skirt and the baseball cap remind us of the sinful innocence of the cheerleaders from "American Beauty" and the kilt of the rough soldiers of "Braveheart" becomes a sophisticated and feminine evening dress. On the red and black tartan shine Byzantine crosses, the now recognizable gold embroideries of Fausto Puglisi which seem carved by Hephaestus himself in the caves of Mount Etna.
