Prada buys Marchesi

Prada buys Marchesi
Prada has purchased 80% of Marchesi, the historic Milanese pastry makers founded in 1824 and famed for its panettoni
"Marchesi is a symbol of Milan, so I am naturally pleased to make this agreement with the Marchesi family. Our goal is to work towards growing the brand while maintaining the traditions it stands for," sauid Patrizio Bertelli, Managing Director of Prada S.p.A. The purchase fits in with Prada's intent to strengthen its brand both in Milan – such as the new Prada store in the Galleria – and internationally.
Marchesi S.r.l. will retain 20% of the business and remains fully involved in the company's management. Angelo Giovani Marchesi, who will stay on as Managing Director, said: "We have been flying the flag for excellence and quality for nearly two centuries; Prada, who are as Milanese as we are, will help ensure we continue to develop and produce the best in quality."
