Social Sustainability Report

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is pleased to announce the immediate release of a new survey “Social Sustainability Report: a survey on wage practices among luxury fashion suppliers in Italy”, together with a Social Sustainability Road Map to commit to fair wages and increased workplace social sustainability across the luxury sector.

The aim of this Fair Wage pilot project was to better understand the working conditions and wages of the thousands of employees working for the luxury sector in Italy also taking into account the key role of National Collective Labor Agreements agreed between employers and trade unions.

The Report and Road Map pull from the Fair Wage Network comprehensive approach, which defines a fair wage around 12 complementary dimensions, and helps capture the reality at enterprise level, in terms of wage levels, wage adjustments, pay systems, but also other working conditions such as the number and payment of working hours, intensity at work, opportunities for career progression, eventual wage discrimination and also social dialogue mechanisms.
To further these initiatives, CNMI will be involved in the organization of workshops and meetings to promote the Report and Road Map and will also stimulate the dialogue among fashion houses, suppliers, consumer associations, ministries and institutions in order to raise awareness on social sustainability and facilitate the adoption of fair wage practices across the whole supply chain.
