"Italian Fashion Days in the World"

A Memorandum of Understanding signed with the main Industry Associations

Yesterday, January 28, 2025, at Villa Madama in Rome, Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani inaugurated the ‘Italian Fashion Days in the World’, an innovative integrated promotion format bridging the public and private sectors, institutions and the Made in Italy.

Italy is the world’s leading fashion producer, and the industry ranks second in the country in terms of productivity, exports, and overall business turnover, employing approximately 600,000 people across 60,000 companies of all sizes.

"The initiative launched by Minister Tajani, through the protocol signed in Rome between the Italian National Chamber of Fashion and eleven industry associations, aims to create a virtuous international network leveraging Italy’s diplomatic network," stated Carlo Capasa, Chairman of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. "The events organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will benefit the entire sector—particularly in the fight against international counterfeiting - supported by the Guardia di Finanza, a force historically committed to protecting the Made in Italy."

The Memorandum of Understanding ensures continuous support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Italy’s second-largest industrial sector by mobilizing Embassies, Permanent Representations, Consulates, and Italian Cultural Institutes.

As part of the ‘Italian Fashion Days in the World’, the first Fashion Roundtable for Internationalization was held yesterday. This initiative will enable the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and key industry Associations to give a start to a close technical coordination, fostering a Country System approach.

"Today is a great day for Italian fashion," concluded Charmain Capasa. "Historically, the export of our brands' production has been at the core of our business, so the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worldwide is already a powerful and decisive network for driving the industry's revival."
