THE REVENGE OF TOP MODELS

The cliché has it that the careers of models, like beauty, is destined to be short-lived. Yet, it will be the exception that confirms the rule, there are models who have not only preserved a beauty which seems to have stopped the flow of time, but reached 40 years of age still remain the most desired by the designers. One of the most anticipated and critically acclaimed moment of the Milan Fashion Week was the return on the catwalk for Naomi Campbell, with her now legendary stride, she closed the show of Roberto Cavalli and received a standing ovation. Together with colleagues like Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni she was one of the protagonists of the top model phenomenon, invented by the versatile Gianni Versace, which marked the fashion industry of the '90s. Their beauty enhanced the Italian fashion of those years, their way of walking, so different from that of our day, hesitations on the catwalk and flirty glances to the public, has enchanted audiences, their fame, worthy of the most famous rock star has helped to imprint in the collective global imagination the power, the talent, the novelty of the great names of the Made in Italy. A few months ago, some of them were featured in the video "Girl, panic!" of the Duran Duran and, with the exception of Carla Bruni, who has followed a different path, continued to gain publicity campaigns, editorials and covers of glossy magazines, and occasionally show on the catwalks as a special guest. The public always loves them, just like the first time.
