FOCUS ON: MARTA FORGHIERI, FREELANCE DESIGNER

The pleasure of working on the small things is the key to her career, rather rich, despite her young age. Marta Forghieri from Milan, born in '82, after a degree in literature from the University of Bologna, with a thesis on aesthetics, moved to London where she attended the Central Saint Martin's College, once back in Italy she decided to continue her studies at IED Milan, while working as fashion editor for the magazine "Gioia".

In 2007, after graduation, she begins a wide series of collaborations and competitions that characterize the career of Marta as a fashion designer, a work that she considers a "technical craft" to which she was driven by a kind of selfishness: the dissatisfaction caused by the proposals of fashion becomes the challenge to achieve by herself what she thought was missing, or simply needed to be improved. The woman she thinks of is herself; anyway, if she is asked the name of a celebrity that she'd like to dress, the name of the elegant and always smiling Ambra Medda pops up.

The victory of the 2007 My own show contest brings luck to Marta Forghieri this way she has the opportunity to participate to the Toronto Fashion Week, and in 2008 she wins Feed on fashion with a collection sponsored by the IED and NAFA, and presents modular dresses in lycra at the project Container promoted by Fiera Milano. In 2009 she shows with her  own collection during Milano Moda Donna, at  which she participates as the winner of the Next Generation contest, a project promoted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. From there, she starts important new collaborations with Tricot Chic and Mila Schon: for several seasons she has been in charge of the second line of the (Mila Schon Concept) brand, but she also continues to pursue her own creative path with the line Smarteez, created thanks to the collaboration with Plissè.
